Every bath I took. Every splash our nieces and nephews made.
All in water filled with contaminants.
And once we saw it, we couldn’t unsee it.
That’s why waterna exists.
One Small Moment. One Big Shock.
We had just installed a whole-house water filtration system in our home, and the difference was immediate.
I remember drawing that first bath - and just staring at the water.
It looked different. It smelled clean. The yellow tint I hadn’t noticed before... was gone.
That’s when it truly sank in:
All those long baths.
All those joyful splashes from our nieces and nephews.
We’d all been soaking in water filled with contaminants.
It shook me. And honestly? It disgusted me.
That moment changed the way we saw water – forever.
When ‘Good Enough’ Wasn’t Good Enough
Funny thing is, we didn’t install the system for our bathwater.
We did it for kitchen wellness - for cooking and drinking.
We hadn’t even thought about what we were brushing our teeth with, washing our clothes in, or bathing in.
For years, we’d been double-filtering our kitchen water - first through an under-sink unit, then again with a clunky countertop container.
It was inconvenient. Inefficient. And still not enough.
One day, while waiting for water to drip through that countertop container, I looked at my husband (and business partner), Scott, and said,
“You recommend water purification systems for hospitals and restaurants… isn’t there something like that for our home?”
That one question sparked something much bigger – and planted the first seed of what would become waterna.
Trying to Be Healthy - and Missing the Bigger Picture
Even though Scott worked in the plumbing and water purification industry, we assumed our filtered water at home was “good enough.”
I followed my functional medicine doctor’s advice and drank bottled water or double-filtered from the kitchen sink - trying to do the healthy thing.
But we’ve since learned that bottled water isn’t regulated the way people think it is.
And our home setup wasn’t touching the deeper contaminants we didn’t yet know to look for.
Not long after we started rethinking our water, my uncle - a former EPA scientist - came to visit.
When we told him we were planning to install a residential water purification system, he leaned in and asked,
“Have you looked into PFAS?”
We hadn’t – and what he shared opened our eyes.
PFAS - the so-called “forever chemicals” - were showing up in tap water across the country.
And PFAS was just the beginning.
The deeper we looked, the more disturbing it became.
Municipalities are required to add disinfectants to protect against serious threats like bacteria and viruses.
But by the time that chemically treated water travels through aging infrastructure - especially here in Florida, which has the second-highest number of lead pipes in the country - it often picks up even more contaminants on its way into our homes.
Here’s the thing: we're not mad at the municipalities. They have a tough job.
Their systems are designed to deliver volume – not purified water.
Years ago, my doctor told me to drink clean water - but I never imagined how unclean our “clean” water really was.
And once we knew better, we knew we had to do better - not just for ourselves,
but for every household facing the same invisible risks.
A Water for Wellness Mission
We launched waterna because clean water shouldn’t be complicated.
It should feel simple. Safe. And never something you should have to second-guess - because water touches every part of life, every single day.

We’re a U.S. Navy veteran husband and wife team based in Florida, guided by faith and devoted to serving others - in life, in business, and in the water we stand behind.
Scott has worked in plumbing and water purification for over 20 years, designing and recommending large-scale systems for hospitals, hospitality, and commercial buildings.
He’s seen firsthand what it takes to make water truly clean at an industrial level - systems built for precision, safety, and compliance.
His focus had always been on big-picture infrastructures - like hospitals, where water purity is mission-critical for patient care.
We understood why those places needed ultra-clean water.
What we didn’t realize was how much our own homes needed it too.
Because by the time water travels through city systems and aging pipes, it’s picking up chemicals, lead, and other contaminants straight into our kitchens and showers.
This is personal for us.
I’ve walked the road of health challenges, and water has been a major part of my healing.
We’re not perfect. But we’ve learned that better is the new perfect - and better starts at the tap.
